AUDITIONS!
Now, I know that this post may not appeal to everyone, but... I auditioned recently for a part as a costumed character and I will be auditioning again on July 12th to sing for the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT during the Christmas season.
So, what is the audition process like? I can't say what the talent auditions are like just yet (I will post again when I have more information), but the auditions for costumed and face characters are interesting. First, you get in line, and they give you an application of basic information to fill out, then they give you a number, and then they take your height (bare feet). After that, the waiting begins. They will divide the groups into around 50 people and have you stand in a line. Then they walk by you and decide if you look enough like the character to play the part. Then they have a small dance audition. They select very few people (I'm talking, like, one or two out of every 50, so chances of making it are very rare). I, of course, was cut.
That being said, I'm really looking forward to the vocal auditions. I'll be singing Summertime from 'Porgy and Bess'. Here's a recording of me practicing today (not the best recording, but hey, it's a work in progress!). Enjoy! And yes, that is me playing the piano, too. :)
